Police promote pink patches
The Hermosa Beach Police Department has joined with law enforcement agencies throughout the country to support the Pink Patch Project, an effort to raise money to combat breast cancer. The effort began in 2013 with the Seal Beach Police Department, and has since expanded to hundreds of other public safety agencies. On Oct. 1, to coincide with the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hermosa began selling pink “patches” resembling the badge insignia of the department for $10. T-shirts are also available for $20, and key chains for $5. Money raised goes to support breast cancer research, and organizations raising awareness about the disease.
