Bob Yassin, former Executive Director of Palos Verdes Art Center, adopts the persona of Vincent van Gogh during a virtual return to the Peninsula on Thursday, May 6, for the Art Center’s annual Chefs and Cellars celebration.
Yassin’s talk is a prelude to “Immersive van Gogh,” which is scheduled to open May 27 at an, as yet, undisclosed location in downtown Los Angeles. The half-million cubic foot exhibit is designed and conceived by Massimiliano Siccardi, with soundtrack by Luca Longobardi, who pioneered immersive digital art experiences in France.
The installation includes the Mangeurs de pommes de terre (The Potato Eaters, 1885), the Nuit étoilée (Starry Night, 1889), Les Tournesols (Sunflowers, 1888), and La Chambre à coucher (The Bedroom, 1889).

The Chefs and Cellars door prizes include two tickets to “Immersive Van Gogh.”
Yassin has taught at Herron School of Art of Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis, and a fellowship recipient of the Ford Foundation and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. His talk will explore Van Gogh’s role in the history of modern art.
Dinner will be prepared by Entertaining Friends Catering and include wine, Chocolat Pot De Crème for desert and a fish, beef, chicken or vegetarian entree.
The dinners may be picked up at the art center on the day of the event.
Tickets are $75 and available by calling Joyce Kochanowski at (310) 377-2141, or online at PVArtCenter.org. ER
