The City of Rancho Palos Verdes introduced for the first time, a new, synthetic ice skating rink at Civic Center. Opening night was December 3 and started with a tree lighting ceremony, followed by a flag ceremony, holiday music, food and crafts and an evening of skating. Through the end of Dec., there was daytime skating, and theme skate nights, which included “Ugly Sweater” and “Disco Fever.” With the sun shining and views of the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, it was a nice holiday diversion for the kids while they waited for Christmas Day and Santa to come down their chimneys.
