Redondo Beach man Andrew Goldsmith, a 28-year-old veteran of the Iraq War, is skateboarding 900 miles to inspire and empower fellow veterans.

Goldsmith and Bob Harington will leave Brookings, Oregon on Sunday, May 26, and head south along the California coast to begin the long-distance skateboarding journey, by which they aim to raise charitable donations for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).

They will be traveling an average of 35 miles a day for almost 40 days. Along the way they will be documenting the journey through social media and spreading their message to empower veterans and encourage community involvement in veteran-related issues.
