Kelly wins prestigious award
Dr. Nancy Kelly was named the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) State Personnel/Human Resources Administrator of the Year for 2013.
Recipients of the prestigious award must be active ACSA members who show strong support for the school management team; exceptional leadership in managing school programs; commitment to educational quality and student achievement; commitment to professional growth; and creativity and innovation in dealing with issues and problems facing public education.
Region winners will be honored April 17 at the Long Beach Grand Event Center at 4:30 p.m. State recipients will be honored at ACSA’s Leadership Summit in November, which will take place this year in Sacramento.
Robert Gates to speak
As Secretary of Defense under two presidents and through two wars, Dr. Robert Gates offers candid insight into global politics and world affairs, U.S. intelligence and defense strategies, and the global challenges of the 21st century. He speaks April 15 at 8 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
Vitality Beach meeting
Tonight, April 11, grassroots group Vitality Beach will be meeting at the Redondo Beach Yacht Club from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to discuss and promote healthier and happier living. The group will again be meeting Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bluewater Grill.
Yacht clubs launch season
Port Royal, Redondo Beach, and King Harbor Yacht Clubs are holding their opening day ceremonies Sunday, April 14. Boats will be open for inspection and the Fishing Fleet will be making fish tacos. There will be a bake sale and a bounce house for kids.
