Snow flurries at the beach
The Point in El Segundo is trading in sandcastles for snowmen as they invite guests to enjoy snow showers every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 23 and then every night from Dec. 19 through Dec. 23. Snow flurries will take place on the grass at The Point and will happen every 30 minutes from 6-8 p.m. For more information, go to thepointsb.com.
Manhattan Beach art exhibit
Lynn Aldrich’s “Fly High Fly Deep,” an exhibit about environmental conservation, is on display at the Manhattan Beach Art Center through Jan. 1. New art exhibit
Manhattan Beach native Shane Foley, a 3D print designer and artist, has a new art show at Culture Brewing Co., 327 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Manhattan Beach. The exhibit, on display through December, features a variety of digital and physical art projects, from porcelain ceramic art to 3D printing and digital design.

Book sale
The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library Bookstore will hold its monthly Saturday sale from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Items for sale include books, DVDs, CDs and LPs and nearly new jigsaw puzzles all priced at $1 or less. The bookstore is located on 11th Place behind the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave., west of Pacific Coast Highway and the Veterans Memorial and across the street from the Alano Club. Free parking is available in the Community Center parking lot next to the tennis courts and skateboard park. The bookstore’s regular hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays. Guided nature walk
There will be a guided nature walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy at 10:30 a.m. Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat. Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Park in the lot at the end of 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro. Wrapping party
The Beach Cities Toy Drive wrapping party will be held at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave., and gets underway at 11 a.m. It will continue until every present is wrapped. Bring scissors, tape and extra wrapping paper.

Los Cancioneros Master Chorale presents “Season for singing

Spotlight: Los Cancioneros Master Chorale will give a holiday concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 at James R. Armstrong Theatre, 3330 Civic Center Drive, Torrance. The concert, “Season for Singing,” features a range of music, from Bach to present day tunes. The concert also includes a sing-along and traditional Chanukkah and Kwanzaa favorites. Los Cancioneros Master Chorale began in 1949 with a dozen neighbors in the Hollywood Riviera. Tickets to the concert are $35 for adults and $25 for students. Dylan Hannon will present “Othonas for the Collector” at the South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society meeting on Jan. 8. Hannon, a curator at The Huntington Botanical Gardens, will present a brief overview and cultivation requirements of the diverse succulent Othonna, which is excellent in a rock garden or as an indoor houseplant. Guided nature hike
Enjoy a free guided tour of Abalone Cove in Rancho Palos Verdes at 2 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 22. Los Serenos docents will lead the hike. Participants will walk past unique flora and fauna and explore tide pools teeming with marine life. Moderate to strenuous. This is a kid-friendly hike but the trails and rocky beach are unsuitable for baby strollers. No dogs allowed on the beach. Rain cancels.
