Medal of Valor

The South Bay Police and Fire Memorial Foundation 48th Annual South Bay Medal of Valor Awards Luncheon. This event recognizes police officers and firefighters who selflessly protect and serve the South Bay Cities and have performed exemplary acts of bravery which go beyond the call of duty. Metro Board of Directors meeting

Attend this critical community meeting regarding the Metro project in Lawndale, Redondo Beach, and Torrance. Metro Los Angeles is considering building two additional Metro tracks alongside the freight train track, which would bring 200-300 Metro trains passing by homes daily. This meeting is your chance to make your voice heard and oppose the Hybrid Row option. Lawndale and Redondo Beach cities have voted to recommend the Hawthorne Blvd. option, which would build the commuter rail system raised up down the middle of Hawthorne Blvd. Your participation is vital to protect our neighborhoods. Blood Drive Mira Costa

The Mira Costa High School Associated Student Body(ASB) will be hosting a UCLA community Blood Drive event. 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Arrive early, the event will close exactly at 1:30 p.m. 1401 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach. You have to be 17+, with parental consent,  weigh 110 lbs, and be in good health with a photo ID. 

End of Life Workshop – In Person    

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) free workshop led by co-founders of Luna Peak Foundation, a nonprofit that supports cancer thrivers and grief survivors. Participants will be provided with an intro on end-of-life planning for themselves and loved ones. Veterans Memorial task force

Memorial day ceremony at Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park, 309 Esplanade, Redondo Beach. Outdoor dining task force meeting

On August 24, 2021, the City Council directed staff to study long-term outdoor dining and business uses in the public right-of-way and on private property. During the COVID-19 pandemic recovery, the City permitted businesses to use parking spaces and street areas in the public right-of-way during COVID-19 operating restrictions through Emergency Orders. The long-term effort to evaluate long-term business uses is intended to be comprehensive, including broad community engagement, evaluation of fiscal implications, study of alternatives, environmental review, and required permitting. 1 – 3:30 p.m. Manhattan Beach Library, 1320 Highland Ave., Manhattan Beach. Teen mental health first aid training BCHD 

Beach Cities Health District is providing an opportunity for young people, ages 15 -18, to be trained in teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA). Free to attend. The training program teaches teens ages 15 -18 how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in their friends and peers. Participants must: Attend all three sessions to be certified. Must be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade or between ages 15 – 18. Able to attend three Wednesdays, May 29, June 5 & 12, 4 – 5:30 p.m. 514 N. Dementia caregiver support group

This support group offers a safe space to address the challenges that come with caring for someone, find support amongst peers who share similar experiences and openly express your feelings around being a caregiver.
