Spotlight: Row for a Reason

The eighth annual Row for a Reason, which raises funds for Cancer Support Community South Bay, will take place on Sept. 8 from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sept. 9 from 7 a.m. to noon at Body One Fitness, 201 Herondo St., Suite 100, Redondo Beach. Gym owner and founder of Row for a Reason, Lou Sidella, will dedicate all row machines to the fundraiser for the duration of the event. Participants can sign up to row in half-hour time slots for a $50 donation. They are also encouraged to have friends and family donate to support their efforts. Exercise for seniors

Every Friday. Mind & Muscle; Bodywork by Joy. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Free. Strength Training from Home for Older Adults

Stitch and Sew

Trail restoration

In an on-going effort to establish wildlife connectivity for pollinators, like the Monarch and the El Segundo Blue Butterflies, the South Bay Parkland Conservancy, habitat restoration and on-going stewardship along the Hermosa Valley Greenbelt Trail. Community members are invited to join in on the work effort by signing up for slots of work day opportunities. Sports luncheons to resume

The South Bay Athletic Club will kick off its 58th year at noon on Sept. 8 at H.T. Grill, 1701 S Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach. The group, which welcomes guests and new members, meets Fridays from September to June for lunch, friendship and to hear speakers ranging from John Papadakis’ annual USC football report to CIF Assistant Commissioner Thom Simmons to USA Diving Chairman Dave Gascon. A local high school coach also speaks most weeks. The SBAC has sponsored the annual South Bay All-Star boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball games. It is looking for new members to help put on the games. The luncheon is open to the public. Lunch is $30.

Cancer Support: Frozen Shoulder

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) is offering this free workshop led by physical therapist Dwight Baldoman.
