The final meeting/workshop of the Redondo Beach General Plan Advisory Committee will be held Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library.
The committee is preparing to send an updated Draft General Plan to the city planning commission, which makes a recommendation to the city council whether to approve.
Over the past six years, the advisory committee, appointed by the city council, has undergone a comprehensive update to General Plan elements land use, conservation, open space, recreation and parks and environmental hazards.
The purpose is to address growth in the city, respond to new laws, ensure that Redondo Beach is eligible for state and federal funding, and to reflect the intentions and values of residents. Issues discussed include jobs, population growth, housing and market demand and more, leading to a new Draft General Plan.
The 27-member advisory committee’s work is expected to guide land use in the city for next 20-25 years. The group has held 26 working meetings since its inception in 2017.
After the Jan. 31 meeting, the Plan will go out to the community for input, with public workshops scheduled for the spring.
The city council is expected to a vote on it in summer or fall of this year.
