The driver involved in the collision that resulted in a Hermosa Beach motorcyclist’s death last November has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Stephen Lee, 39, of Blauvelt, New York, surrendered himself to the Manhattan Beach Police Department on Feb. 28 after an arrest warrant was issued two days prior. He was booked and released, with a pending court date, according to a press release.

On Nov. 1, 2012, Lee, driving a rental Mercedes Benz SUV, was making a left turn from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard onto eastbound Tennyson Street. Police said Lee failed to yield to Michael King, who was riding his 2001 Harley Davidson northbound Sepulveda Boulevard.

King collided into the passenger side of Lee’s car and suffered critical injuries with broken bones and head trauma. After enduring in critical condition for nearly two months, King died on Dec. 27 at Gardena Memorial Hospital.
