Charity event

Tickets are on sale to Vistas for Children’s spring fundraiser, Rosé All Day. There will be a boutique, luncheon, fashion show, live auction and raffle. An online auction preceding the event is planned, as well. All proceeds benefit South Bay children with special needs and their families. The event will be held at 10 a.m. on March 6 at Palos Verdes Golf Club, 3301 Via Campesina. Tickets are $250. An additional $50 guarantees rosé all day.

Art exhibits

“Celebrating the Beauty We See” is on display at the Peninsula Center Library through Feb. 17. The art exhibit features works by Kathie Reis and Susan Whiting. The library is located at 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates.

Memorial baseball game

The Brett Mendoza Memorial Alumni Game is scheduled for noon on Feb. 5 at Peninsula High School. Mendoza, a baseball coach at Peninsula High, died in 2018 following a traffic accident. He was 31. Because of the Covid-19 surge, a decision had not been made as of publication as to whether the game would be held as planned.

Weekend retreat for women in recovery 

Join other women in recovery. With John McAndrew, MA, MDiv. McAndrews is a counselor, musician, theologian, teacher and poet in long-term recovery from the disease of addiction. Formerly director of spiritual care at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, he currently offers spiritual counseling and coaching for individual clients, as well as spiritual care for hospice patients.

The retreat is scheduled for Feb. 11-13 at the Mary & Joseph Retreat Center, 5300 Crest Rd, Rancho Palos Verdes. Cost: per person/shared $250; single $350; commuter $160

Spirituality Series 2022 — Forgiveness: A Process “Nuts & Bolts”

Learn about the process of forgiveness — what it is and what it’s not, how to forgive others and ourselves; in other words, the “nuts & bolts” of the process. 

Feb. 12, 1 a.m.-1 p.m. via Zoom. With Fred Luskin, director of the Stanford University Forgiveness Projects, a professor at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology and author. The Spirituality Series is a fundraiser for the Mary & Joseph Retreat Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. A donation of $25 is requested.

Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10k/5k Run/Walk

Registration is open for the 44th annual Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10k Run & 5k Run/Walk, which will take place on Feb. 13. There’s also a Health & Fitness Expo that starts on Feb. 12, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and continues race day from 6-11 a.m. The start/finish line and the expo will be at 200 Portofino Way. The race course will take runners along the Redondo Beach harbor, Esplanade and waterfront, with the course ending at the Seaside Lagoon. A 1k Kid’s Fun Run begins at 7 a.m., followed by the 10k at 7:30 a.m., the 10k Baby Buggy Run at 8:15 a.m. and the 5k Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. The entry fee for the 10k, 5k and Baby Buggy 10k is $45 Dec. 1-Feb. 11 and $50 race weekend. The Kid’s Fun Run is $20 until Feb. 11 and $25 race weekend.

Charity yard sale

Support St. Peter’s by the Sea youth groups, and their fundraising efforts to help others through mission service work. The yard sale will be held on the St. Peter’s church campus on Feb. 19 from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Free parking.

Walk through coastal sage habitat along the eastern bluff of the Ocean Trails Reserve (East Bluff & Gnatcatcher Trails). Enjoy coastal views, see WWII sites and possible gray whale sightings. Moderate. Park on La Rotonda Dr. at Twin Harbors View Dr. – 1st left. Meet at the sign-in table on the sidewalk of Twin Harbors View Drive at 10 a.m. Look for banner. Mac club meeting

The South Bay Apple Mac Users Group has been around for over 30 years. It’s a group of 80 Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch aficionados. The group’s monthly meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Beginners Q&A, followed by a main presentation on a subject of interest to all Mac users. 

The group’s February meeting, scheduled for Feb. 23, will be virtual, via Zoom. Admission is free. All Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple watch users and potential users are welcome.
