The Hermosa Valley School will hold its annual canival Friday, Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Valley School, 1645 Valley Drive.Â
Meet the new city manager
The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a “Meet the New City Manager” event on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Beach House Hotel, 1300 The Strand. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. when current chamber members can meet Tom Bakaly, who began working as the new city manager last month. The general public is invited to attend beginning at 6:15 p.m. The event will last until 7:30 p.m.
Pet adoption
The 35th annual Peter Zippi Fund Open House and Adoption Day will take place on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VCA Coast Animal Hospital, 1560 Pacific Coast Highway. There will be an animal behaviorist and animal communicator as well as pets needing adoption at the event. Please enter through the side door on 16th Street. Coffee with a Cop
The Hermosa Beach Police Department will host “Coffee with a Cop” on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the downtown Starbucks, 1303 Hermosa Ave. from 10 a.m. to noon. Lt. Tom Thompson and Sgt. Landon Phillips will be available at the event to answer law enforcement-related questions and conduct child car seat inspection — and drink coffee.
Disaster training
The Hermosa Beach Disaster Service Workers and the American Red Cross will offer basic training for community volunteers to manage shelters in the event of a disaster. The 8-hour training will take place at the Community Center Emergency Operations Center, 710 Pier Ave, on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Residents from any city may attend and must be at least 18-years-old.
