
Restaurant Burglary
A burglar broke into the Mermaid Restaurant early Saturday morning and stole $500.
Employees reported the theft at the beachfront restaurant 8 a.m. Saturday morning, police said. The door to the restaurant had been locked the previous night after closing, and employees found it pried open.
No damage was done to the structure of the restaurant, but the burglar took $500 that had been left in an unlocked door, police said.
The restaurant is equipped with security cameras, but it was not immediately apparent whether the cameras had captured the burglar.
No other information about the burglar was available.
Pet Shop Battery
A man was arrested Saturday morning after threatening the employee of a local pet store.
The suspect entered the Pet Mart at 1054 Aviation Blvd. at some time the previous day, and got into an altercation with one of the store employees, police said.
It was not immediately clear what the subject of the dispute was, but the suspect was apparently attempting to return some items to the store, police said. The customer was later arrested and booked on suspicion of domestic battery.
The employee did not suffer any injuries in the altercation, police said.
