A ribbon cutting celebrating the reopening of Hermosa View School, followed by a State of the Schools address will be held Wednesday, October 26, starting at 4 p.m. The ribbon cutting had been scheduled for early September, but was delayed because of rain. School Board President Maggie Bove La-Monica and Superintendent Jason Boxer will deliver the State of the Schools address.

Hermosa View School chool reopened Tuesday, September 6 for transitional kindergarten through second grader students.

A remodel of Hermosa View began in July of last year, shortly after construction was completed on the new Hermosa Vista School, which replaced the long closed North School.

New classrooms were added and old classrooms modernized during View’s zero net energy redesign. View and Vista were funded by Measure S, a $59 million bond proposal approved by voters in 2016. At the time, Hermosa Valley had 948 third through eighth grade students on a campus designed for 750 students. View had 481 kindergarten through second grade students on a campus designed for 216 students.

Hermosa View is at 1800 Prospect Avenue, Hermosa Beach. ER
