Skating in the park in Rancho PV
Starts December 17th through January 8th
Ice skating with a view of the ocean will be offered at the Ken Dyda Civic Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, on Friday, December 16 at 5:30 p.m. Food, and crafts will be offered and the city’s annual holiday tree lighting ceremony will take place. Ice skating on the synthetic ice will also take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 17 and 18, and January 2 through January 8 from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations recommended. Santa in Lunada Bay Park
December 14th
Santa will be listening to holiday wishes at Lunada Bay Park on Wednesday, December 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy a snowy playground and a trackless train ride. Lynn J. Kim of Vista Sotheby’s International Realty is sponsoring Santa’s visit. 2201 Palos Verdes Dr. West., Palos Verdes Estate.
PVE Santa parade
December 17th
Santa will parade down the hill from Coronel Plaza (Granvia Altamira and Via Coronel) to Malaga Cove Plaza on Saturday, December 17, from 4:30 pm to 5 p.m. Hot cocoa, carolers and the Coast Jazz Band plays will be in the plaza to greet him. There will also be snow At 6:30 p.m, Santa will visit Valmonte, then Lunada Bay and finally the Palos Verdes Estates Civic Center.
Santa’s Mailbox
starts now through December 20th
Palos Verdes residents can drop off letters to Santa at the North Pole Express Mailbox through December 20. The Mailbox is located in front of the Police Department. Watch the PVE City website for a special message from Santa.
Land Conservancy Christmas bird count
December 26th
The Palos Verdes Land Conservancy invites bird lovers to participate in the 123 annual Christmas Bird Count on Monday, December 26. The survey is part of the Audubon’s nationwide bird survey. The annual survey is important for accessing both local and nationwide bird populations for determining conservation strategies. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn from expert birders and to see rare, migrating birds. Birds common to the Peninsula Preserve include cactus wrens, rocky wrens, northern harriers, burrowing owls, great horned owls and peregrine falcons. Recommended hours are mornings from 7 to 11:30 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Land Conservancy is at 916 Silver Spur Rd, Rolling Hills Estates For a history of the Christmas Bird Count visit Audubon.org. Nutcracker at El Camino

Chinese Tea Tasting
January 14th
The Peninsula Center Library will celebrate National Tea Month on Saturday January 14 with a tasting of Chinese teas led by TeaWaves’ Michael Graney and Joey Chou. Learn about the history of tea while tasting oolong, jasmine and other teas.
