Measures passing; Solomon leads Kilroy

Paige Kaluderovic led Candace Nafissi 932 votes to 841 Tuesday night in the race for the Redondo Beach District Three city council seat.
The cumulative count came from ballots received by the Post Office as of Monday, March 6, and those dropped off at city hall, also by Monday. The number of uncounted District Three votes was not available at press time.
Citywide, 7,057 ballots have been counted, and 2,871 remain.
The outstanding 2,871 are from the drop boxes throughout the city, and ballots received by the Post Office Tuesday, March 7 — along with any further ballots still to arrive, postmarked by Election Day.
Election officials are not yet able to break down the remaining ballots by District or precinct, until the signatures are verified, explained City Clerk Eleanor Manzano.
City hall will announce final election results on March 16, with no further updates planned until then.
Kaluderovich is in her first run for public office. This is Nafissi’s third campaign for the District Three seat.
In other races, for city treasurer, Eugene Solomon leads Matthew Kilroy 3,512 to 3,077; for the two open Redondo Unified school board seats, incumbent Raymur Flinn leads with 3,839 votes followed by Byung Cho with 3,741 and Jerome Chang 3,293.
Yes on Measure CT (retail marijuana tax) has an insurmountable lead, 5,262 to 1,582; as does CA 1 (city charter amendment for public works contracts), 4,613 to 1,606; CA 2 (change in city charter language about payments due) is also passing 4,930 to 1,373; CA 3 (gender-neutral language in city charter) is headed for approval at 4,366 to 2,223, and CA 4 (amending the requirement that the mayor sign all contracts is ahead 4,702 to 1,766: CA 5 (ranked-choice voting) is passing 5,026 to 1,460.
For city council in District Five, Scott Behrendt has collected 996 votes so far, running unopposed, and City Clerk Manzano was elected to a fifth-term, also unopposed.
Tuesday’s 7,057 vote total represents 14.59 percent of registered voters in Redondo Beach.
At city hall Tuesday night, volunteer staff arrived with pouches of drop-off ballots, the last coming in from the North Branch Library on Artesia Boulevard. ER
