Los Angeles County Lifeguard Jenna Solberg (above) placed second in the Catalina Classic Paddleboard race three weeks ago. Next week, she and fellow county lifeguards Kelsey Cummings and Hunter Hay will compete in the International Surf Rescue Challenge (IRSC) in Durban, South Africa. The IRSC showcases the best lifeguards from around the world in a multi-disciplined competition that testing ocean skills in varying conditions.
The three were selected based on their successes at the United States Lifesaving Association National Championships.
To help fund their trip to Durban, The Deck, on the Hermosa Beach Strand, is hosting a fundraiser on Sunday from 6 to 9 pm. Contributions can also be made at:
