Polliwog Park reopened Saturday. But the children’s play equipment was fenced off. The dog run, botanic garden and Historical Museum cottage were closed. And the “Red Circle,” which sculptor C.J. Rench said is meant to “connect” people, was wrapped in yellow caution tape. Restrooms and the parking lot also remained closed. The popular park was closed last month to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

In announcing the “limited reopening,” a city press release cautioned, “The park may be closed again in the event the rules are not observed.” Signs throughout the park reminded visitors to wear masks and socially distance.
The rules weren’t difficult to observe. Despite warm weather, only a few dozen people were in the 18-acre park early Saturday afternoon. Some were picnicking, but most were families in masks walking along the path that circles the pond. ER
