Nursery/gardening

Deep Roots Nursery

Opened less than one year ago (formerly Annie’s Garden and Bob’s  Nursery), Deep Roots owner Jon Bell is empathetic toward his growths and his clientele. As reported in ER by Andrea Ruse in a June 2010 article, he has development what he calls “fruit salad trees,” a planting that yields Desert Gold peaches, Florida Pride peaches, Eva’s Pride peaches and May peaches – all from the same stalk.

“The fruit salad trees are still new to most of the people that come in,” said Bell. “I love getting reactions from people. Their minds are blown from these trees.”

The store offers a full service florist shop, plus a variety of exotic plants, including Japanese maples, Chinese lanterns and astramaris. Bell plans to expand his business to include landscape design, installation, maintenance, gardening classes and troubleshooting.

Bell’s advice to plant growers: “The biggest mistake people make is overwatering. If it’s still wet, don’t water it.”

In the meantime, enjoy a peach from Bell’s tree. It’s not the pits.
