PVP Land Conservancy

Native Plant Nursery Volunteer Days: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. Enjoy nurturing seedlings and help plants grow for habitat restoration projects. Must RSVP 48 hours in advance. Sign up at: www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Rapid Response Team: Work alongside PVP Land Conservancy staff protecting wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails. Tasks include trail maintenance, building fences and installing signage. Adopt-a-Plot: Enjoy the outdoors and become inspired by nature as a volunteer. Happy Hats for Kids in Hospitals

Volunteers invited to decorate and sew Happy Hats. A non-profit organization based in Torrance. Woman’s Club

Founded in 1926, the Palos Verdes Woman’s Club supports the welfare and activities of philanthropies operating in the Palos Verdes Peninsula and surrounding areas. Whale Watching Volunteer

7-9 p.m. The Cabrillo Whalewatch program is seeking enthusiastic volunteers, college-aged or older, to act as naturalists on whale watching trips and provide lectures at schools. Whalewatch training classes will be given in the John M. Olguin Auditorium at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.  Classes will be held every Tuesday through the end of March. Third Grade Naturalist Docent Training

Tour d’ Art 2018  

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Explore the workshops and studios of professional artists in the Palos Verdes area. Palos Verdes Art Center host over 40 artisans and craftsmen in the Atrium at PVAC and eight other studios throughout the Peninsula. Each artist’s home studio on the peninsula features several guest artists as well as the work of the artist in residence. Artwork will include paintings, ceramics, sculpture, woodcarving, photography, jewelry and art-to-wear. Each Studio offers refreshments. Upside of Aging

1:30 –  3 p.m. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Village presents the 3rd annual Upside of Aging event. Dr. Fernando Torres-Gil, a Professor of Social Welfare and Public Policy at UCLA, an Adjunct Professor of Gerontology at USC and Director of the UCLA Center for Policy Research on Aging will be speaking. He will be joined by Helen Dennis, nationally recognized leader on issues of aging and her syndicated weekly column on Successful Aging. RSVP’s are required.
