Redondo Beach Police are asking help in finding the suspect alleged to have shot and wounded a person in a car in the area of North Lucia Avenue, and Agate Street early Friday morning March 31.
Police responded to a report of a theft of a catalytic converter at 5:25 a.m.
In the initial investigation, officers determined that someone in a vehicle believed to be involved with the theft, fired shots at the driver of another vehicle after a pursuit. The victim had apparently driven by the incident by chance, said RBPD Lt. Jeff Mendence.
The victim was hit in the shoulder and later taken to a hospital by a Redondo Beach Fire Department ambulance. The suspect’s car is described as a dark-colored passenger car with several males inside, which sped east on 190th Street.
“We’re busy pulling out all the stops, doing all we can to solve this,” said Mendence.
Parts of Beryl Street between North Prospect Avenue and North Lucia Avenue were closed while the scene was searched by detectives. Nearby Beryl Elementary School used alternate entrances that Friday morning.
