Knife pulled during argument
A man was arrested Thursday night after waving a knife and threatening to kill another man in downtown Hermosa.
The incident began about 7 p.m. near the clock on Pier Plaza, police said. The suspect and the victim were arguing, and the confrontation became heated.
During the argument, the suspect pulled out a knife, waved it around and said to the victim, “I’m going to kill you,” police said. The suspect then fled the scene.
The victim did not sustain any injuries in the encounter, police said. The suspect stood a few feet away from the victim and waved the knife, but the victim was not stabbed.
The suspect was found later that same night after authorities were called about a separate incident, police said. Officers found a knife on the suspect’s person, and arrested Michael Vasquez, a transient, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. ER
