Police Beat in Manhattan Beach

Suspicious person

According to Manhattan Beach Police Department reports, a witness reported seeing an adult male enter a residence on the 1500 block of Voorhees Avenue at 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 17 by removing a screen and opening a window. An investigation revealed that the man was an occupant of the residence who didn’t want his family to know he was out all night.        

 

Midnight arrest

An officer located an illegally parked vehicle on the 2200 block of Ocean Drive that was occupied by two subjects on Aug. 14 at midnight, according to MBPD reports.  An investigation revealed drug paraphernalia and stolen mail inside the vehicle and both subjects were arrested.

 

Stolen Porsche

A 2005 Porsche Carrera was stolen from the garage of a house on the 500 block of 1st Street some time between Aug. 14 to 16. Police report that the house was also burglarized. The method of entry is unknown.

Stolen purse

A woman parked and locked her vehicle on the 400 block of 26th Place around 3 p.m. on Aug. 11, according to police reports. She returned to find a car window shattered and her purse stolen from inside the vehicle.

 

Crash

An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle on the 600 block of Rosecrans Avenue at 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 18. According to MBPD, the vehicle fled the scene and crashed into a tree on 400 block of 33rd Street. The driver fled on foot while two passengers remained with the vehicle. Items found inside the vehicle were suspected to be stolen during a burglary. The passengers were arrested and the search for the driver is ongoing.

Attempted bike theft

A police officer observed a male cutting a lock that was securing a bicycle on the 200 block of 28th Street at 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 20. The bicycle did not belong to the male and he was arrested.

Traffic stop

An MBPD officer conducted a traffic stop at 2:35 a.m. on Aug. 16 on the 1500 block of Rosecrans Avenue. An investigation revealed credit cards and other identity theft-related items inside the vehicle. All three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested.

No loss

Unknown suspect(s) attempted to pry open an upstairs window of a house on the 300 block of North Poinsettia Avenue some time between July 15 to Aug. 15.  No entry was made into the residence and there is no loss. ER
