A city planning commission hearing on retail marijuana sales will be held Thursday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. The special meeting will take public input on a draft cannabis ordinance, written by the city attorney’s office at the direction of the city council.
The ordinance would allow two retail marijuana stores in Redondo Beach, and impose a five percent fee on sales, to go to the city’s general fund.
Following the March 3 hearing, the planning commission is expected to forward the ordinance to the city council for review, and possibly adoption.
The meeting is virtual. Options for public input will be included on the agenda, expected to be published by the end of this week on (redondo.org). Written comments may be submitted to PlanningRedondo@redondo.org.
The planning commission, appointed by the mayor, advises the mayor and city council on matters of planning, zoning and the physical development of the city, with direction from the city council. Members appointed by one mayor often serve under subsequent mayors. ER
