Redondo Union High’s boys and girls track and field teams ran up scores that were double second place Mira Costa’s scores at the six-school Bay League Championships on Friday, April 28
“Both the girls and boys are very balanced in all the 14 track and field events. We take pride in emphasizing the field events as much as the running events. And it showed on Friday,” coach Bob Leetch said.
“We had a few personal bests that stood out. Camilla Brennan won the pole vault with a mark of 12 feet, for a huge six-inch improvement. Jadan Williams improved to 21 feet 8 inches to win the long jump. Kai Deines followed up on his dual wins in the shot put and discus at the Mt. Sac Relays, with performances of 61 feet 11 inches in the shot put (a top 10 in the U.S.), and 169 feet 2 inches in the discus for dual Bay League titles. Sophomore Adam Divinity ran a savvy, tactical race in the 800 to win in a time of 1:58.52.”
“Winning the Bay League titles in both boys and girls is a huge accomplishment, because this is a very competitive league,’ Leetch.
“Hats off to the entire league for all the amazing performances,” the coach added. “The energy was off the charts all night long, full stands with cheering athletes made for a memorable night.”
