On March 18 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, basketball stars Dave Butler and Greg Butler were inducted into the PVPHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Dave, was drafted in 1987 by the Boston Celtics, played professional basketball in Turkey and Japan and is currently the Co-CEO for Global Asset Management Firm. Greg was drafted 37th in the 2nd round of 1988 NBA, playing for the NY Knicks and LA Clippers. He was a back up center/power forward to Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley on NBA playoff teams and founded the Greg Butler Basketball Camp. There were a plethora of coveted silent auction items including VIP College Prep courses, 2023-2024 school year reserved student parking, orthodontic package and early high school locker selection. Some of the “Champion Donors” who helped make the evening a success were the Ginsburg Family, Rand, Phillips and Woodland Families and Funk and Mansir Families. All proceeds go to financially support PVPHS athletic programs, fund trainers, pay for upgrades and maintain sports venues, support safe competition, promote teams and communicate to teams and their families.
