
Athletes from girls volleyball teams led a list of local players who were selected to All-CIF teams for their accomplishments during the Fall 2014 season. Complete lists of All-CIF teams are available at cifss.org.
Girls Volleyball
Redondo outside hitter Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani was named the CIF Division 1AA Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Mater Dei’s Alyse Ford. Bedart-Ghani had a team-high 22 kills in the Sea Hawks 3-1 win over Mater Dei in the CIF-SS Division I-AA finals and a team-high 16 kills in Redondo’s sweep over Pitman in the State Division 1 Championship match.
Bedart-Ghani also was named Gatorade California Player of the Year and was an Under Armour All-American.
Redondo setter Norene Iosia had another stellar season amassing 1,092 assists, 103 aces, 95 blocks and 88 kills. The junior made the All-CIF team for the third consecutive year.
Mira Costa senior outside hitter Skylar Caputo earned All-CIF Division 1AA honors after leading the Mustangs to the CIF-SS quarterfinals. She finished the season with 299 kills, 340 digs and 54 aces.
In Division 2AA, South Torrance outside hitter Kori Kutsch was named Player of the Year and Spartans’ head coach Robert Kutsch was selected Coach of the Year after South captured CIF and Southern California Regional titles.
South outside hitter Karly Eastley and libero Allison Prunauer were named to the team along with North Torrance outside hitter Sabryn Roberts.
Vistamar outside hitter Natalie Stephanus was selected to the Division 4AA team.
Boys Water Polo
After moving up one division, Mira Costa reached the semifinals behind the strong play of All-CIF Division 2 selections Jake Miller-Tolt and Nick Dale.
Miller-Tolt recorded 79 goals and 47 assists while Dale led a stellar defense as goalkeeper.
El Segundo’s Paul Bibas was named to the All-CIF Division 4 team.

Football
With the Bay, Ocean and Pioneer Leagues all competing in the CIF-SS Western Division, the All-CIF team was filled with local athletes, including members of division champion Palos Verdes who swept all three major awards.
Sea King quarterback Steven Delcarson was selected Offensive Player of the Year, defensive end Connor Markley was named Defensive Player of the Year and Guy Gardner earned Coach of the Year honors.
Players selected to the Offensive Team included Palos Verdes running back Stanton Gilbertson, lineman Daniel Allen and utility player Lance Brown.
Representing the Pioneer League were Torrance running back Tyree Harris and lineman Adrian Skelton along with West Torrance running back Brett Ojiyi.
Out of the Ocean League, El Segundo’s aerial connection of quarterback Lars Nootbaar and receiver Nick Karsseboom were selected as was Eagle lineman Michael Rincon.
Defensive Team selections included Palos Verdes back Lucas Cooper and lineman Kyle Messinger; El Segundo back Elijah Hale and linebacker Jackson Walz; North Torrance linebacker Mique Juarez; Torrance linebacker Andrew Irvine and West Torrance linebacker Benton Shortridge.
